The Garden Hours Season Finale will take place in the outdoor courtyard at Current Space. Garden Hours is a bi-weekly music series at Current Space organized by artist Jay Swann (@jayswann_) and serves a primarily Black audience between the ages of 21 and 45. At each iteration of Garden Hours, Jay Swann introduces audiences to a new special guest. The program runs April to October, so this event on October 24th will be the 2024 Season Finale. The Season Finale will include additional special guests for an extended program. Outcomes include increased opportunities for the Black and queer performers; providing a high quality free event to the audience; broadening the audience of Current Space, and in particular welcoming a primarily Black audience to the space; increasing our general viewership; and building Current Space’s membership program. Another outcome will be introducing this new attending audience to our two exhibitions that will be on view in the galleries. Our indoor galleries will be open simultaneously with this event, so folks coming for the music will also see visual art including “all water has a perfect memory,” an exhibition of works by Fleesie Hubbard, Jamilla Okubo, and Jessica Whittingham, curated by Teri Henderson in the Main Gallery and an exhibition of works by Sophia Belkin and Dave Greber in the Project Space.
