This hands-on workshop explores how government records obtained through Freedom of Information laws can be transformed across documentary and journalistic mediums. Drawing on methods of investigative journalism, filmmaking, archival research, and documentary-theatre practice, participants explore how public records can be communicated journalistically on the page, produced visually for the screen, and adapted from both forms for live performance on the stage.
The workshop considers how each medium can reveal, interpret, and communicate documentary evidence differently while preserving its evidentiary integrity—and asks: How can artists and journalists transform state records into public knowledge across forms?
