DESCRIPTION:On what was once a block of vacant houses\, a corner on Baker a
 nd McKean Streets has been transformed into a vibrant gathering space by t
 he Matthew Henson Community Development Corporation and neighborhood volun
 teers. On Saturday\, October 25th\, the drums will celebrate this space th
 rough Harvest Rhythms at Unity Park\, and mark the community’s first-eve
 r participation in Free Fall Baltimore.\n\nSaturday’s drop-in afternoon 
 event celebrates the fall season and cultural heritage through the power o
 f music\, nature\, art\, and shared space. Jumoke Ajanku and drummers from
  Sankofa Dance Theater will fill the park with the traditional rhythms of 
 African drumming\, while community volunteers lead hands-on craft stations
  including leaf printing\, mini pumpkin painting\, and nature-inspired art
  using leaves\, wood\, and other natural materials. Harvest Rhythms will b
 e held in the backdrop of the neighborhood’s community sunflower garden 
 and aims to focus on the celebration of foraging\, harvest\, and renewal.\
 n\nActivities Include:\n\n 	Drum Circle\n 	Mini Pumpkin Painting\n 	Stone 
 Stories (Stony Painting)\n 	Nature Collages\n 	Herb Bundles\n\nHarvest Rhy
 thms is a part of a neighborhood’s series of initiatives to better use r
 eclaimed public spaces for creativity\, information\, and togetherness. Op
 en to all ages and especially welcoming to families from the nearby Matthe
 w Henson Elementary School\, this afternoon of fun hopefully marks the sta
 rt of a new tradition for the neighborhood.
