“MYTHS OF THE CARIBBEAN: LA CIGUAPA FOREST” is an immersive art installation that delves into the myth of La Ciguapa. La Ciguapa is a mythical creature from La Hispaniola island (Dominican Republic and Haiti), believed to live in the woods and rivers. Her body is covered by long hair, and her feet are backwards, so nobody can trace her steps. La Ciguapa symbolizes mystery and transformation. She can be captured on a full moon. However, she quickly dies in captivity. The installation combines visual art, light, and sound to create a multi-sensory experience that explores themes of mystery, transformation, and cultural heritage. The installation will feature dozens of panels made from translucent polymers and other materials that interact with light, suspended from an overhead system to create a forest-like environment.
