Guests are invited to the opening reception of Anna Divinagracia’s “Pandarayuhan: Home is a Memory,” a solo exhibition that reflects on the complexities of home, identity, and longing through the lens of the Filipino immigrant experience, at Creative Alliance on October 23, 2025. The exhibition will remain on view through November 22, 2025.
From the artist: “Pandarayuhan: Home is a Memory directly reflects my mission as an artist to create work rooted in my identity as a Filipino immigrant. My practice is shaped by the complexity of navigating two cultures at once; what it means to carry memory, tradition, and heritage across borders while constantly adapting to a new environment. This project continues that exploration by reflecting on the emotional labor of migration and the quiet, everyday realities of immigrant life: the waiting, the paperwork, the longing, and the process of making home from fragments. As in all my work, I use photography, installation, and alternative image-making processes to blur the lines between personal memory and cultural record. Pandarayuhan not only documents my own story, but it also contributes to the wider narrative of immigrant experiences in Baltimore, specifically centering the Filipino community. The programming that accompanies the exhibition is designed to reach people beyond the typical gallery audience, offering workshops, food, conversation, and film as different entry points into the work. My goal is to connect with as many people as possible, especially those who may not always see themselves reflected in art spaces. This project aligns with my broader intention to create spaces for connection and belonging by recontextualizing cultural heritage in ways that feel grounded, accessible, and present.”
