Black Cherry Puppet Theater (BCPT) has participated in every Free Fall Baltimore since the beginning of the program in 2006 and will again in 2024 with its Puppets in the Park(ing Lot). BCPT has a long history presenting programming not only Free Fall programs, but has for decades provided enriching arts experiences to families and young people in the neighborhoods surrounding Hollins Market and in communities across Baltimore. This year’s Puppets in the Park(ing Lot) is a continuation of the past three years very successful events featuring puppet shows and puppet making workshops in the Hollins Market Parkette, a community space across the street from the historic Hollins Market. It will again present performances from Baltimore’s growing community of professional puppet artists, and will also include puppet making workshops with attendees making hand and popsicle stick puppets. These hands on creative activities enable participants to create simply made, but elaborate looking puppets they take home. This program has been a staple of Free Fall Programming for eighteen years. Each event will feature two performances by two to three puppeteers making a forty-five minute show. This framework will enable more people to be engaged in smaller, more intimate audiences.
