Free community Sew & Sound sewing session at Ubuntu Sewing Collective! Guided by Elegbe Kojo, create your own Sankofa Sling Bag, which is designed to carry yoga/mediation materials. The SS is a symbol of heritage and self-expression. All materials provided. Come stitch, share, and celebrate culture together!
The Sankofa Sling Bag Sew & Sound sessions are intentionally free and open to the public, removing financial barriers that often limit participation in arts programming. By hosting the event at the Ubuntu Sewing Collective, a centrally located and transit-accessible space, they are intentional about creating a space for young adults, families, and underserved audiences. The hands-on format is beginner-friendly, making it accessible to all skill levels, while the cultural storytelling embedded in the project connects participants to heritage and identity.
